The first time I tried it was among the wondrous coral reefs near Panama City Beach. It was incredible . . . the fish, the reefs . . . I even saw starfish!

Every year, I eagerly anticipate my visit to this white sandy beach, wondering what I'll add to my list of underwater sightings this year!

The crystal-clear waters in this part of the Gulf of Mexico make snorkeling and scuba diving incredibly popular.

If you can float, you can snorkel. It's as simple as that! Just put on a mask and enjoy the beautiful sea creatures. You'll be able to float effortlessly and observe many of the underwater residents.

Snorkeling is great entertainment for all members of the family, and you won't find a more ideal place than the Emerald Coast of Panama City Beach!

There are plenty of shops that rent gear, if you don't always head out to the beach with your own personal paraphernalia.

There are multiple places to try it out — you might stay in close to shore and wiggle your toes among the little fish, or you might choose to be a bit more adventuresome and take in the exquisite beauty of the coral reefs.

Capturing the essence of the beauty of Panama City Beach involves submersing yourself in the clear ocean as well as just lying around on the sugary sand! Be sure to include snorkeling in your escape to the wonders of the ocean.

Tip: When in the water, always remember to protect yourself against the sun by using a waterproof sun block, especially on your shoulders and the back of your legs!
