Would you like some tips for the best shelling?
Many seashell creatures are hidden just beneath the surface of the sand where the surf breaks. A good spot to look is the shell line, where the highest waves halt as they roll onto the beach.
This is where groups of shells surface and are reshuffled by each wave.
Another good spot is at the slight drop in the surf line, where gentle waves break before easing onto the beach. This area might be accessible only when weather permits, but it usually has the finest specimens!
Once you've discovered your hidden treasures, you might want to think about ways to showcase them at home as a reminder of a cherished getaway. You can put your seashells in a basket and set them within view on a table or a counter.
Seashells are also beautiful when kept in an elegant glass container or a simple mason jar. Or you might consider putting a few of them in your aquarium! They'll be sure to revive memories and spur your next vacation!
Did you know? There is a legend about the sand dollar. When you look at it, on the bottom is the outline of the Christmas Flower (the poinsettia), and on the top you will find the outline of the Easter flower (the Easter Lily).
In the center of the Easter Lily you will find the outline of a small star — the Christmas Star. Break open the shell and inside you will find five small "doves," representing "Peace and Good Will to Men."
